3D geometry doubt.

Post by gangulyratul on Mon Jan 04, 2016 1:33 pm

Before starting out, I don't know if this is low level or not. I follow an Indian curriculum, so excuse me. Razz

A=3i-j B=2i+j-3k

Express B as a sum of 2 vectors B1 + B2 where B1 is parallel to A, and B2 is perpendicular to A.

I have tried to solve it, but have only come up with this:

(B2).A = 0 and B1=zA (where z is any arbitrary constant)

Help me continue from there please.
Thank you.

Vectors are unfamiliar to me. In my math classes we've barely worked on problems with them, so I'm afraid that I can't really help you there. This problem is something that I've never done before.
